Overall Performance

Modified on Thu, 27 Jun at 12:01 PM

The Overall Performance view shows a company’s (or group of companies’) B Impact Assessment or SDG Action Manager score alongside a benchmark score, so you may compare your companies’ performance to other businesses using the B Impact Assessment and SDG Action Manager.

Access the Overall Performance view in B Analytics by:

  1. Clicking on “Analytics” in the left-hand navigation menu
  2. Then, select the “Overall Performance” tab
  3. The view consists of 2 main areas (see image below):
    1. Filter options that allow you to view your data by:
      • B Impact Assessment and SDG Action Manager impact area and impact topics
      • Your network of companies
      • Benchmark
    2. Performance data, based on selected filter options

The Overall Performance view's default filter selections are set to display overall performance scores for your companies' current assessments (which are based on the version, as well as the current and previous year).

Interacting with the Overall Performance view

Decide what metrics you are interested in analyzing: Using the “Select Your Metrics” filter options located at the top, you can choose to analyze your company's scoring data based on the product they are using, any of the impact areas, or impact topics. The following filters can help you navigate the filer options:

“Select Your Metrics” filter definitions

  • Product - this filter allows you to view scoring data from questions present in either the B Impact Assessment or the SDG Action Manager
  • Hierarchy - Our assessments are broken down so that a company's overall score equals the sum of their impact area scores and their impact area score equals the sum of their impact topic scores. The hierarchy filter allows you to quickly view data on these three levels of detail.
Hierarchy
Description
Impact Topic
Group of questions within an impact area or module that have a similar theme (e.g. Human Rights, Supply Chain Management)
Impact AreaFor the B Impact Assessment, this consists of 5 key areas (Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, Customers)

For the SDG Action Manager, this consists of the Baseline Module, plus the 16 SDG Specific Modules
Overall

For the B Impact Assessment, this is the overall score (total of all 5 impact areas)

An overall SDG score is not currently available because the overall content of the Sustainable Development Goals are so far reaching, and because the design of the SDG Action Manager is to allow users to focus on modules of most relevance to them.

  • Impact Area/Module - select which B Impact Assessment impact areas and/or SDG Action Manager modules to view

  • Question Type - select questions from the B Impact Assessment that fall under operational impact or Impact Business Model (IBM)
Question TypeDescription

IBMB Impact Assessment impact topics related to a specific Impact Business Model (IBM) designed to create positive social and/or environmental impact beyond the basic operational impact of the business
N/A

In the B Impact Assessment, when a company selects N/A it is an indication that this is not applicable and those points will be redistributed to the other questions in that impact area that are relevant to the company

Note: Selecting this filter also results in data populating for overall score of the B Impact Assessment score, as well as overall module scores for the SDG Action Manager.

Decide what companies in your network you are interested in analyzing: Using the “Select Your Companies” filter options located at the top of the view, select the types of metrics for which you would like to view company data (see "Select Your Companies Filter definitions" below for more information about each filter).

All benchmark data is aggregated and anonymized. A null/blank filter selection indicates that the number of companies providing data for the benchmark category and filter option is less than the threshold number of companies required for benchmark reporting. (In the data table, this is indicated as “Small Sample Size”.) Threshold values are listed in the table under the Benchmark Category filter definition.

Note:  Filter selections in the “Select Your Benchmark” group only apply to the companies in the selected benchmark category.

Comparing your Data. The Overall Performance table presents company (or group of companies) performance data.

B Impact Assessment performance displays as point values

SDG Action Manager performance displays as percent of available points for overall impact area/module score and as point values for impact topic categories

Hovering over areas of the bar chart shows additional details, described below:

Your Companies’ Performance (blue bar)

  • My Network Average Score - the average of all of your company’s scores based on the filters applied in the “Select your Companies” section
  • # Companies - the number of companies whose data is being averaged

Benchmark (black diamond)

Total Points Available (dark gray line)

  • Avg. Total Points Available - the average sum of all points available in that section for the companies selected in the “Select your Companies” section. Total points available is only calculated for the B Impact Assessment operational impact score (Question Type = OPS), as well as for all modules of the SDG Action Manager
